Your first step is to book a free of charge 20 minute introductory phone or Zoom call. This gives us the opportunity to decide if we would work well together and answer any questions in relation to the practicalities of our first session.
We would then arrange to meet online or in person for a full 50 minute session, during which I carry out an assessment.
If we feel able to continue, we would put a plan in place including whether we feel open ended or short term counselling would be most beneficial and your particular goals and motivations for the sessions.
Open ended counselling
This is the traditional form of counselling where you attend on a weekly basis at a regular time. I offer this online and in person for those who have access to Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. This is particularly useful if you have a number of different goals in mind, subjects you wish to address, or feel you would benefit the most without the pressure of an end date.
I require one calendar month’s notice period to end counselling to ensure we can properly prepare for closing the work.
Short term counselling
This applies where you have a specific number of sessions you are able to commit to. I recommend a minimum of 6 sessions and encourage you to work towards a specific goal to ensure you can maximise the benefit of our sessions.
You can increase your sessions as you feel necessary, subject to availability. You are also very welcome to return for further sessions in the future. Sometimes it can be useful to take a break in between counselling to gain perspective of progress you have made.
Fees
I charge £65 per session of counselling, which last 50 minutes each.
If you have a low income or you are a student, do feel free to get in touch and discuss your options. I have a limited number of concessions available for online clients, and a limited number of fortnightly sessions available to help with costs. I do however advise my clients to opt for weekly sessions where possible as in my experience, working in a regular and focussed manner tends to have quicker resolutions.
I am an approved practitioner for various health insurance providers including Bupa. Do let me know if you are covered for counselling and are opting to take advantage of this benefit.
